Second Grade Summer Reading List
Students Entering Second Grade
The books listed below are good choices for summer reading. Books listed in the Social Studies and Science categories relate to the themes that will be studied in Second Grade. Many children at this age enjoy reading books in a particular series, and are encouraged to pursue reading book series’ that interest them. Books should be chosen according to your child’s interest, reading level, and the availability. Book cards should be completed on four books. Listening to your child read aloud and asking them about what they have read will enrich the reading experience. The Read Aloud section includes books that you may enjoy reading to your child.
