Deepika Peters ’95

November 11, 2019 | Katie Eades

Deepika’s story is one of resilience and courage. After coming to the United States from India, she struggled to adjust to school and was often bored and bullied.  Thanks to generous donors at Grace Church Van Vorst, she received a scholarship to attend Mustard Seed.

From music to math, Deepika thrived with new challenges she wouldn’t have had elsewhere. Deepika is grateful for her experience. “I was taught to think outside the box;  take on every challenge as an adventure, and see the beauty in everything, no matter how hard.”

Today, Deepika is a real estate developer, committed to making a difference in her community. She helps non-profits secure buildings, supports domestic violence survivors, and has created a program to provide affordable housing for those who need it most.
