Deepika Peters ’95

November 11, 2019 | Katie Eades

Deepika’s story is one of resilience and courage. After coming to the United States from India, she struggled to adjust to school and was often bored and bullied.  Thanks to generous donors at Grace Church Van Vorst, she received a scholarship to attend Mustard Seed.

From music to math, Deepika thrived with new challenges she wouldn’t have had elsewhere. Deepika is grateful for her experience. “I was taught to think outside the box;  take on every challenge as an adventure, and see the beauty in everything, no matter how hard.”

Today, Deepika is a real estate developer, committed to making a difference in her community. She helps non-profits secure buildings, supports domestic violence survivors, and has created a program to provide affordable housing for those who need it most.

Katie Eades

Director of Development

Katie Eades is thrilled to be a part of the Mustard Seed community and serve students and families as together we inspire minds, cultivate hearts, and remove barriers. Previously the Executive and Program Director at TRUE Mentors, she has a passion for helping children flourish. Ms. Eades spent 7 years teaching U.S. and AP history in Chicago, where she enjoyed facilitating class discussion, helping students improve their writing, and hosting her yearly SpeakEadesy and Eadesstock events.

An entrepreneur and health and wellness enthusiast, Ms. Eades owned her own CrossFit gym in Illinois before moving to Hoboken in 2015. On the weekends, you can find her coaching CrossFit kids classes on Saturday mornings and brunching on Sundays after church at Anthony David’s.
