With the rigor of academic classes (teachers are trying to fit in as much as possible before the break!) along with the joys of Middle School mini-terms and the anticipation of Christ’s birth in worship, Advent is a busy and exciting time for us. As we charge toward our Las Posadas celebration, I invite you to enjoy these images of the season at Mustard Seed.
This week, two eighth grade students visited the preschool classrooms to talk about a project they had completed the previous year for mini-term. When touring the school for their unit on the senses, preschool students had noticed many examples of signs featuring raised dots. The older students discussed their process in creating signage in Braille, and communicating through texture.
On Monday, Ms. Mauldin hosted a special performance of Nutcracker! A Jersey City pianist (and one of our after-school piano teachers!), Yukiko Tanaka performed the music of the Nutcracker. Lower School students experienced the story of the classic ballet with the live piano performance and accompanying visual aids in the community room.
MSS students learn to see themselves as part of a global community and act as compassionate advocates who learn from and serve with others in solidarity.
