The first grade has left the atmosphere! The study of space has begun with a study of the solar system. First graders began their study by researching the Sun, the center of our solar system.
Researching involves watching videos, reading books, and hearing from each other about what they have learned! Then they can choose one (or two or three) facts to write on their book page. Students have steadily moved through the solar system, from the Sun, to Mercury, Venus, Earth, and all the way to Neptune!
Ask your child about what they have learned so far! They may have some facts that will surprise you.
For example, do you know how hot the Sun is? What planet is the biggest? Which planet has the fastest winds? What is the Great Red Spot?
