Looking Back Over the Past Year

June 14, 2022 | Rebekah Lowe

We are coming to the end of year.  Today, we will look back at our year in second grade and the learning and play we had.

September:

We built community and learned about each other.  We played games as a class.  We led the school in the Simchat Torah celebration.

October:

We walked around Hoboken and learned about what people do for work and fun for our Hoboken Study.

November:

We went on the Hudson Hike as a class, doing scrambles and observing nature.

December:

We observed rocks and minerals and learned about the different ways scientists observe minerals.

January:

We studied China and the traditions it has.  We also did opinion writing!

February:

We led the school in a Lunar New Year Parade!

March:

We participated in I Love Math Day!  We also did a unit on States of Matter!

April:

We started research on our countries.  Then, we presented the following month!

May:

We wrote many, many poems!

June:

We saw larvae become butterflies for our butterfly unit!

It has been quite a year: learning, laughs, and memorable memories!

Have a great summer!

Rebekah Lowe

Teacher, Grades 2&3

Rebekah Lowe knew that she wanted to be a teacher ever since middle school when she was inspired by an English teacher who developed interactive games and creative acronyms for many of the topics that were discussed. Because of her teachers, Ms. Lowe attended the education program at the College of New Jersey, where she experienced a variety of classroom environments, and earned a teaching degree. She was also a part of the Education Honor Society. After graduating, Ms. Lowe taught English in South Korea, and during this time, she was able to travel around Asia and experience new cuisines and cultures. Her love of travelling increased, and she hopes to travel more in the future! She began her teaching career in the United States at Mustard Seed School in 2018 as a second and third grade teacher in the Meadows class. She’s excited to be a part of the school community and share her many experiences with her students.
