I Love Math Day

February 11, 2021 | Bridget O'Dowd

Today was I Love Math Day at Mustard Seed! In the kindergarten, it has been a day filled with games and activities celebrating the joy math can bring!

We started off the day playing a game of “I Have, Who Has Numbers. ”

Next, we watched a video sent to our class virtually by a middle school helper. Joshua taught us a game that the children then got to work on in work periods.

They built structures, traced shadows, and counted how many pennies to fill the shadow.

The children played Sum Swamp.

During our usual math time, we played “Escape Room” 3D shape addition. We had to follow the clues to find 3D shapes around the classroom to find the key!

And Musical Numbers!

We read some math stories.

To top off the day, we played 4 corners, practicing some simple addition with a whole-body experience. And we ended the day with a math dance party.
