Scholastic Book Orders!

September 23, 2020 | Becca Brasser

It is so important to the children’s reading development for them to read daily with an adult, and this is one of the most important ways you as parents can be involved with your child’s literacy development at home.

If you wish to purchase books to keep at your home, we recommend that you take advantage of the Scholastic Reading Clubs described below.

In your child’s backpack later this week you will find book orders. Using these book orders, you can purchase inexpensive and high-quality books for your home library!

You can pay by cash or check (made out to Scholastic Reading Clubs) and return the paper order form to school, or you can order online and pay by credit card by following these directions:

1, SIGN UP at clubs.scholastic.com. Scroll down to where it says “Connect to Your Teacher”.  Register for your own user name and password. When prompted, enter the one-time Class Activation Codes below:

Moon Class: TT8PK
Sun Class: HCPMG

  1. SELECT the books you’d like to order — choose from thousands of titles — many more than in our monthly flyers.
  2. SEND your order to us online by the due date and your child’s books will be delivered directly to the classroom.

The deadline for all orders is Friday, October 2..

Oh–and did you know that for each book you purchase, we earn bonus points that we may redeem for books and materials for the Moon and Sun classrooms?

Thanks for supporting us in this way!

Becca Brasser has been teaching first grade at Mustard Seed School since 2002. She’s passionate about teaching children to read, write, experiment, and take risks as they explore the world around them. Her own studies (including a Master of Arts degree from New Jersey City University) have given her expertise and experience in the area of literacy education.

Ms. Brasser especially enjoys taking her students on field trips all over the New York Metropolitan area, traveling on foot, subway, bus, commuter train, and ferry. Some favorite trips: the Hudson Hike, the New York Transit Museum, and the Central Park Zoo to study penguins.

Although she lives in the city, Ms. Brasser loves escaping to nature and finding it in her everyday life as well. She loves to explore rivers and lakes, woods and mountains with her husband Matt, their daughter, Annika, and son, Theo.
