Sharing the Joy + Rigor with Families

In the first six weeks of school teachers and students work hard to establish habits that develop positive, caring classroom interactions as well as study habits and practices that develop good scholarship.  We look to develop Joy + Rigor.  Next week we take time out of the schedule in order to focus on your child and give feedback on their growth.  We also take time to listen to your concerns and questions about their work.  

Here are some things you can expect from Parent Student Conferences next Thursday, December 8 and Friday, December 9.

The goal of parent student conferences is to…

• Hear from the teacher about your child’s academic goals
• Provide context
• Discuss ways to support your child’s progress

In early December, teachers will use progress reports to inform families of the progress students have made with regards to their own goals, as well as class standards. Some of these standards are considered year-long goals. Therefore, families can expect more “Beginning” or “Developing” ratings for the Fall Term, particularly in that section.

Families are always welcome to reach out to teachers for more information. The best way to know what is happening in the classroom is to:
