Children have been encountering many spring-time creatures like spiders, flies, and bees outside (and sometimes inside!).
So the last few weeks they have been recreating these out of clay.
First they molded the clay in the shape of the insect. Then they added the details like legs and antenna… then finally painting them.
This week each child also completed a book they’ve been compiling of their paintings of the ladybug life cycle. Children discussed what it means to be scientists observing and recording changes in the world. The end of the book is also the beginning, with the adult female ladybug laying eggs for the next generation.
The children are proud to show their knowledge and artistic skills to each other, their teachers, and their family.
