The Trees Class children have been very busy so far this week learning all about the classroom and our routines. The children are reconnecting with old friends and meeting new friends. We hope you enjoy a glimpse at just some of the things we’ve been doing this week as we get started with our school year!
We have listened to worship stories and shared our favorite parts of the stories. Many children really seem to connect with the birds during these early worships.
Children have enjoyed looking at books. We learned about doing a picture walk in a book. Children were noticing details, counting things on pages, and making connections to things they know as they looked at books. They are doing lots of great thinking work!
During our Read Aloud time this week, the children have been hearing the stories of Gossie and Gertie, and other small goslings. It will be exciting to see what other characters crop up in future stories!
During snack time, children have heard stories and listened to some music, along with eating delicious snacks!
On our way to play outside, we practiced walking in a line, holding on to our colorful line rope.
Outside, the children played catch with bean bags,
made some colorful chalk drawings,
and ran and played. We heard many squeals and much laughter outside!
Back in the classroom, children have been very busy working on activities with teachers and friends.
They have done some colorful drawings.
Children have told stories with animals.
Some children have built detailed structures using small blocks.
And many have worked hard at putting together puzzles.
It has been a very busy first few days of school and it will be exciting to see what other new things we learn as we begin to build our Trees Class community together!
