Welcome to our virtual physical education class! Just like every challenge I set for 4th and 5th grade classes, they have by far exceeded my expectations. The students have created a PE community full of sharing, cooperation and performing challenging workouts together as a class. We discuss the workout for the week, make suggestions, and check in with our friends.
As we find ways to stay together while we are apart, it is vitally important that we exercise and release endorphins. This can help reduce stress and anxiety and add some fun in a cooperative and team oriented setting. Our choice as a class is usually a HIIT workout, also known as high-intensity interval training, The students will vigorously exercise for 30 seconds and then take 30 seconds to rest. We do that for 15 minutes and can do about 8 different exercises in that time. The students have done an amazing job! I am so proud of their thoughtfulness to take care of each other and to challenge themselves with our weekly workout! Bravo!
