Other Grade Specific After School Programs to Consider

Private Music Lessons (Grades 1-8)

At Mustard Seed School, we offer after-school private instrumental lessons to students in grades 1 to 8. Mustard Seed facilitates these music lessons for its students. These lessons are a private agreement between the teacher and the family. Mustard Seed provides the space, secures the teachers, and requires background checks.

  • Lesson slots are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis and do fill up quickly.
  • Lessons cost $35 per 30 minute session and the fee is paid monthly directly to the music teachers.
  • Schedules are set in late August. Ms. Mauldin will contact interested families to arrange the schedules.
  • Teacher and instruments offered:
    • Tuesday – William Hobbs (piano), Phil Newman (guitar, ukulele)
    • Wednesday – Tony Huany (violin, viola, piano)
    • Thursday – Yukiko Tanaka (piano) & Grace Lin (percussions, flute, piano)
    • Extended Day Staff will escort students to and from their lesson

Here is more information about lessons and the sign-up to register your interest. Please contact Ms. Mauldin with any questions at [email protected].

Boost Learning Tutoring and Test Prep (Grades K-8)

Looking to reinforce and enhance your child’s learning this year? Ms. Li (previously Ms. Wu, whom many of you know as the former 4th-8th Learning Specialist at MSS) has started an enrichment company called Boost Learning with her colleague Ms. Anne Zhang.  Whether it be reviewing old concepts, introducing new ones, or building fluency, Boost Learning targets academic support in a goal-centered, personalized, and engaging way using both traditional approaches and active learning/gamification.  Email [email protected] to learn more and schedule a free trial and for information about special Back to School rates.  Classes happen at Mustard Seed School.  Extended Day staff will escort students to and from their session.

If you have any questions related to Extended Day, or our After School Programs, please email [email protected].  We will collect and respond to your questions and share answers in our blog post next week.
