After wrapping up our first unit on factors, multiples and multiplicative comparison problems, we have begun to explore the unit of DATA.
In this unit, students are learning how to collect, represent, describe and interpret data.
Our 4th grade mathematicians are learning how to create line plots and find the “chunk” of data to determine what the outliers or numbers that are “outside” the middle chunk.
Students working in groups to make a line plot with a given set of data
Students are working hard on their “Data Project” where they are using data to learn about the 4th grade community. They are required to ask a question, collect data, create a line plot and share their analysis and what they have learned about the 4th graders in a formal presentation.
Asking the question using a google form
Collecting data and organizing it in a table
As we wrap up this unit through this project, I am thankful that it has helped the two cohorts to stay connected!
